چکیده

We reanalyze the e ect of magnetic elds in BBN, incorporating several features which were omitted in previous analyses. We nd that the e ects of coherent magnetic elds on the weak interaction rates and the electron thermodynamic functions ( e, Pe, and d e=dT ) are unimportant in comparison to the contribution of the magnetic eld energy density in BBN. In consequence the e ect of including magnetic elds in BBN is well approximated numerically by treating the additional energy density as e ective neutrino number. A conservative upper bound on the primordial magnetic eld, parameterized as = 2eBrms=(T 2 ), is 2 ( B < 0:27 ). This bound can be stronger than the conventional bound coming from the Faraday rotation measures of distant quasars if the cosmological magnetic eld is generated by a causal mechanism.

Constraints on the strength of primordial magnetic fields from big bang nucleosynthesis reexamined.

In this paper, we revisit in detail the effects of primordial magnetic fields on big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) including a discussion of the magnetic field geometry and the anomalous magnetic moment. The presence of magnetic fields affects BBN by (1) increasing the weak reaction rates; (2) increasing the electron density due to changes to the electron phase space; and (3) by increasing the exp...

Primordial Magnetic Fields and Stochastic GW Backgrounds

Operating resonant mass detectors set interesting bounds on diffused backgrounds of gravitational radiation and in the next five years the wide-band interferometers will also look for stochastic sources. In this lecture the interplay among relic GW backgrounds and large scale magnetic fields will be discussed. Magnetic fields may significantly affect the thermal history of the Universe in parti...

Primordial Magnetic Fields

Large scale magnetic fields represent a triple point where cosmology, highenergy physics and astrophysics meet for different but related purposes. After reviewing the implications of large scale magnetic fields in these different areas, the rôle of primordial magnetic fields is discussed in various physical processes occurring prior to the decoupling epoch with particular attention to the big b...

Primordial Hypermagnetic Fields and Triangle Anomaly

The high-temperature plasma above the electroweak scale ∼ 100 GeV may have contained a primordial hypercharge magnetic field whose anomalous coupling to the fermions induces a transformation of the hypermagnetic energy density into fermionic number. In order to describe this process, we generalize the ordinary magnetohydrodynamical equations to the anomalous case. We show that a not completely ...

Constraining f(T) teleparallel gravity by big bang nucleosynthesis

We use Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) observational data on the primordial abundance of light elements to constrain f(T) gravity. The three most studied viable f(T) models, namely the power law, the exponential and the square-root exponential are considered, and the BBN bounds are adopted in order to extract constraints on their free parameters. For the power-law model, we find that the constra...

Is Primordial 4 He Truly from Big Bang ?

Population III stars are now believed to contribute to the observed Near Infrared Background (NIRB) and heavy element pollution of the intergalactic medium. Here we show that a Pop III contribution to the primordial He abundance consistent with NIRB constraints, might mask a lower value for the Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) He abundance.
